Back in the day! Heritage Day that is!!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

This weekend we celebrated our 6th Annual Heritage Day at the Old Mill Square. The day was filled with the smells, sights and sounds of an Autumn day! From 10am - 5pm we celebrated and honored traditions of the past with craftersand demonstrations ranging from making pottery, just as we do at our Pigeon River Pottery, and grinding corn with free guided tours of our historic Old Mill, to piecing together a quilt and making hammered tin ornaments. We offered fried green tomatoes, fried cornbread and soup beans, pulled pork bbq and the best hotdogs you have ever eaten (really, they are that good!). There was music and games for kids and kids of all ages, a huge farmers market, antique cars, tractors and engines. We were also part of the year long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Here are a few pictures of the days events. Be sure to visit us next year on Saturday, September 25th, 2010!

Stringtime in the Smokies

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

A couple of weekends ago The Old Mill Square was part of a celebration here in Pigeon Forge called Stringtime in the Smokies. There were free concerts on Friday and Saturday morning, along with an on-air Blue Plate Special show with WDVX at our Pottery House Cafe & Grille. Then the free concerts continued at Patiot Park through Saturday evening. It was a great mix of Bluegrass, Country and Gospel Music!
