This weekend we celebrated our 6th Annual Heritage Day at the Old Mill Square. The day was filled with the smells, sights and sounds of an Autumn day! From 10am - 5pm we celebrated and honored traditions of the past with craftersand demonstrations ranging from making pottery, just as we do at our Pigeon River Pottery, and grinding corn with free guided tours of our historic Old Mill, to piecing together a quilt and making hammered tin ornaments. We offered fried green tomatoes, fried cornbread and soup beans, pulled pork bbq and the best hotdogs you have ever eaten (really, they are that good!). There was music and games for kids and kids of all ages, a huge farmers market, antique cars, tractors and engines. We were also part of the year long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Here are a few pictures of the days events. The Wears Valley Farmers Market put out quite a display. You should check out their regular market located on Wears Valley Rd. Just turn at stoplight #3 and go out for a few miles.

Kettle Corn making is a sight to see, but keep your distance 'cause when it starts, it goes everywhere. But oh, is it good!

In the afternoon we had a kids parade. They marched and played instuments of all kinds, even if it was just the stomping feet and clapping hands.
