A couple of weekends ago The Old Mill Square was part of a celebration here in Pigeon Forge called Stringtime in the Smokies. There were free concerts on Friday and Saturday morning, along with an on-air Blue Plate Special show with WDVX at our Pottery House Cafe & Grille. Then the free concerts continued at Patiot Park through Saturday evening. It was a great mix of Bluegrass, Country and Gospel Music!

- The crowd fills the lawn and parking lot in front of the Pottery House Cafe & Grille in the Old Mill SquareMusicians got the crowd going.

Some of the groups played for the Blue Plate Special and then went over to Patiot Park and played for crowds that evening.

Writer and Artist, Mary Phillips visited our Pigeon River Pottery on Friday for a signing of her book “Booger”, a nature book. Mary says that she had 2 goals with writing her book; teach kids not to have bad habits and to learn about and respect nature.

Mary and Wild Rose Begonia
A teacher from Country Oaks Elementary School in Commerce Township, MI, Ms. Lewalski, visited with Mary and Wild Rose Begonia while in town on her spring break. Ms. Lewalski is a 4th grade teacher at Country Oaks and was very excited to get a personal tour of the book from Mary, where she learned all about the special places and characters to show her class when she returned to school. Ms. Lewalski was also excited to learn that she was going to be a star on our blog and couldn’t wait to show her class!
Ms. Lewalski also posed for a picture with Mary and Wild Rose Begonia, but sadly it did not come out, sorry class
So, here is a shout out to Ms. Lewalski’s 4th Grade Class at Country Oaks in Commerce Township, MI from Pigeon Forge, TN!!

This past week we had what is commonly refered to as “Dogwood Winter”. We had several inches of snow in the mountains and just a dusting here at the Sqaure. That was followed by a couple of nights of below freezing temperatures. Thankfully it did not take the bloom off the Square!

The tulips infront of our Pottery House Cafe & Grille survived the short winter shot.

The Red Buds and Dogwoods are in full bloom!
